Handmade Stemware Tags

About This Handmade Paper Project

Perfect for summer parties and receptions, a wine glass tag or glass identifier is a fun and stylish accent, not to mention a great way for guests to keep track of which glass is theirs. Stemware distinguishers are available in many forms - crystals, glass beads with fruits and other themes, etched metal and much more. In this project, we show you how to make unique stemware identifiers using paper tags, rubber stamps and bit of creativity.

Supply List

  • 10 Paper tags, available in packages at craft stores or die-cut from handmade paper
  • fine-tipped felt markers
  • rubber stamps and stamp pads
  • ribbon

Suggestions for Decorative paper:

  • Handmade paper, such as the Garden Greetings plantable paper from Botanical PaperWorks
  • Light-weight corrugated paper in vibrant or pastel shades
  • Medium-weight scrapbooking paper with interesting patterns
  • Medium-weight vellum

How To Make The Tag

1. If you can't find ready-made tags at a local craft store, make your own by selecting a heavy handmade paper stock, scrapbooking paper, corrugated paper or vellum.

2. Cut the paper stock into 10 rectangles measuring 2 x 3".

3. On each rectangle, trim off two corners on one end, to create the look of a tag.

4. Punch a 1/8" or 1/4" hole at that same end.

Decorating The Tag

1. Using rubber stamps and markers, create a decorative motif on the first tag.

2. Embellish with further with felt markers.

3. Repeat with other nine tags, but make each tag unique, so that guests can tell their tag apart from the others.

4. When finished, laminate the tags using a machine such as the Xyron laminator.

5. Tie a decorative ribbon through the hole.

Use these tags at your wedding or next party and guests will be delighted with this fun and unique way to accent their stemware!
