Plantable Wedding Invitations in Elle Italia January 4, 2012
It's not every day you pick up the phone and a major fashion magazine is on the other end. But that's exactly what happened to us back in December when Elle Italia gave us a shout, wanting to know a bit more about our seed paper. Yes, THAT Elle. Take a look!

Because no one here is fluent with the Italian language, we went to our old friend Google Translate to see what they had to say about us:
"An original wedding invitation with nature comes with Bothanical Paperworks: invitations and confetti (to use instead of rice) of recycled paper with seeds of plants, which cast into the earth will give birth to fragrant herbs and aromatic plants."
Not only are we incredibly proud to see our plantable wedding invitations recognized by a fashion powerhouse such as Elle, but to be featured because the invitations are both stylish AND eco-friendly…that just made it so much better.
And speaking of plantable wedding invitations, have you noticed our new spring designs for 2012? More about those later this week…stay tuned!

OrganicSoul is a website that provides a whole bunch of resources on how to live the most natural and eco-friendly lifestyle. Featuring recipes, reviews, and even a daily shopping offer with proceeds supporting various worthwhile causes, there are so many reasons why we love this site and its eco-friendly values.

It's for all these reasons that we were so happy to be interviewed by OrganicSoul, who wanted some eco-friendly insight into Botanical PaperWorks. The review is called Infuse the Planet with Your Paper: Botanical PaperWorks, and includes our plantable wedding collection, green Christmas cards, and plantable postcards among others. Take a look, we'd love to hear what you think!
Plantable Reindeer Holiday Card Featured in Do It Yourself Magazine November 16, 2011
If there's something we love almost as much as plantable paper, it's DIY projects (heck we even have a new DIY blog category!). So when we saw our very own Plantable Reindeer Holiday Card in Do It Yourself Magazine this month, we just about flipped.

This magazine is great, and full of tons of inspiring holiday projects. So great in fact, that we had to quickly scan it before it was snagged off our desk by another staff member.
We found our card in the article 12 Ways to Mail Merriment - a page dedicated to the most Giftable Cards. We're so happy that the editors of Do It Yourself Magazine agree that seed paper cards make for the perfect greeting and a gift in one!
Plantable Confetti Featured in Häat Magazine November 8, 2011
We were happy to find our heart shaped plantable confetti featured in Finland's stunning wedding magazine, Häat! This section covers natural things to celebrate with, and our plantable confetti is just that.

Here's the translation of the article, using Google Translate of course!
Germinant Decorations
Paper-based sydänkonfetteihin (we can't find a translation for this word…but we think it's confetti) is hidden in a wild flower seeds. After the wedding decorations can be planted in the ground or in pots, and, follow the meadow of flowers sprouting. If we are lucky, the wedding can not remain in memory of an entire flower meadow.
You get the gist anyway…and can we just say - we LOVE the idea of a whole meadow of flowers from our seed paper?!

Botanical PaperWorks' President Heidi Presents at Pecha Kucha Night Winnipeg October 24, 2011
Pecha What?! We know…and we didn't know either...let us explain.
Pecha Kucha (pronouced poo-chach-ka) is an event that started back in 2003, with humble beginnings in Tokyo. It was meant as a platform for young designers to meet, network, and share experiences with one another through a prepared slideshow presentation. To keep the pace moving along, that slideshow was given a timeline: 20 slides, 20 seconds each. Set to play automatically (such pressure!).
Over the years, Pecha Kucha has grown, and is now hosted on a regular basis in cities around the world - including right here in Winnipeg. And instead of just designers, inspiring and interesting people from all around the city are invited to participate and share an experience, story, or topic that they are passionate about - work-related or not.
So when our company president Heidi was asked to present at the event this past September, she jumped at the challenge and shared her presentation "10 Things I've Learned From Owning My Own Business".

Filled with everything from old photos (plantable paper hats, anyone?) to Google insights she's acquired from running this seed paper company of hers, she zoomed through the 6 minutes and 20 seconds with ease. Take a look!
To see other videos from Botanical PaperWorks, including Heidi's Pecha Kucha presentation, visit the Botanical PaperWorks YouTube Channel.
And, if you're interested in learning more about Pecha Kucha - take a peek at the official Pecha Kucha site. In addition to seeing if an event is happening near you anytime soon, you can also take a look at other presentations from around the world!
