Growing Tomato Seed Paper: Week 11 April 11, 2012

A few weeks ago, we showed you the first photo of some growing tomato seed paper that's currently in our Botanical PaperWorks store. Just in case you missed it, here's what they looked like then, 8 weeks after being planted.

There were so many little plants, we transplanted all of them into a more spacious home in bigger pots. Even the tiniest of sprouts got moved. Well, it looks like these guys liked what we did, take a look at them now! 11 weeks of water and sunlight, and they're almost ready to go into the garden. We just need some warmer weather, and we'll do just that.

And those little sprouts? Look how strong they are, too! A little smaller, but it's only because they took their time in making an appearance. Quality takes time, you know.

We're currently up to about 10 plants from a small 3" x 3" piece of seed paper, so we hope everyone here likes tomatoes!

New Plantable Save the Date and Menu Cards April 5, 2012

It's our last post of the week today, as myself and the rest of the Botanical PaperWorks staff heads home for our long weekends full of family, friends and a whole bunch of Easter feasting.

Before we go though, I wanted to share some new stuff we've just just listed on the website!

Back in December, we added some brand new plantable save the date cards to match our brand new plantable wedding invitation collections. Well, not only did we receive such a wonderful response from all of you, but we received requests for even more to be added to match some of your favorite OTHER collections too - collections like Embrace, Breathe, Song, and few others, too.

So that's what we did.

And just for good measure (and complete collections!) we updated our selection of plantable menu cards too. If you've never seen these before, they're a bit different from our ordinary seed paper. Why? The seed paper is embedded with carrot seeds instead of wildflowers. We thought it would make for some fun dinner conversation.

Take a look, and as always, don't ever hesitate to contact us if you have something you'd like us to look into. We're always happy to hear your great ideas.

Have a great weekend!

Easter Egg Decorating Ideas: Revisited April 3, 2012

Easter is one of the most fun and colorful holidays of them all, and no matter how old I get, I will never tire of spending a little time each year to create a bright basket of decorated Easter eggs for my big family dinner.

Last year for Easter, we posted some easy Easter Egg decorating ideas over the course of a few days - and for all of you new followers and friends, we thought you might like a refresher course this year too! Go take a look!

Day 1 showed our Easter eggs in their basket stuffed with shredded plantable confetti (looking really pretty, if I do say so myself). Using shredded plantable confetti for the basket is a great way to keep your Easter basket eco-friendly, too. Everyone at dinner can take a handful of confetti home to plant in their gardens. It'll be a huge hit, I promise. This little preview shows what you'll be learning in the next two Easter egg decorating posts.

Day 2 and day 3 both included a few simple Easter egg decorating tutorials so you can make them your self at home, too.

You know what would be a good addition to this year's basket? Some Five Petal Lime Green Plantable Confetti! The cute little flowers are perfect for spring, and the color would be a lovely base for all those color Easter eggs you've just finished decorating. Even better yet - it's on sale or 40% off!

Free Easter Desktop Background March 30, 2012

With Easter coming up next weekend, and the new Stacked Easter Eggs Plantable Happy Easter Card featured earlier this week on Send More Mail and just yesterday on Paper Crave's post "Happy Easter Cards, Part 2", we thought it was a good time to offer this fun plantable Easter card as a free desktop background. Enjoy!

Plantable Cards on Send More Mail March 28, 2012

We love sending mail. It's why we're sending out cards every week for 52 Weeks of Mail, and why we sent some seed paper cards to the popular blog Send More Mail. If you've never been to this blog before, you should definitely take a look - it's full of beautiful stationery from around the world, as well as almost daily photos of (purchaseable, gorgeous) vintage stamps.

And it looks like our plantable cards made a good impression, too! Take a look at this beautiful photo they posted of our Cupcake Plantable Card and Stacked Easter Eggs Plantable Happy Easter Card!

Want to receive a plantable card of your own? (The secret's out, we even include an extra seed card for you to send along to a friend, too). All you need to do is like us on the Botanical PaperWorks Facebook page, and send your mailing address to info@botanicalpaperworks.com. That's it! It's totally free - and no obligations for anything else. Each week we draw one or two names.

Growing Tomato Seed Paper March 27, 2012

We've already shown you what happens when you plant carrot seed paper (carrot seed paper is used to make the plantable menu cards that are part of our plantable wedding collections). Today we thought we'd show you the tomato plants we have growing from a another batch of our seed paper - this batch was made for an order of custom promotional items.

Pretty fun, hey? We're always planting our paper in everyday conditions to make sure you can plant it just as easily.

We'll keep you posted on how they continue to grow. Right now, they're about 8 weeks old, and look like they're just about ready to split into individual pots. We'll have to do that soon.

Hmm, maybe we should grow some basil seed paper from our Plantable Yummy Cards Set, and make a Caprese Salad when they both fully grow!
