World Environment Day

Botanical PaperWorks Wishes Everyone a Happy World Environment Day

Happy World Environment Day today! Did you know? World Environment Day was designated by the United Nations in 1972 to stimulate action on the environment and empower people from every corner of the globe to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development.

Also this week in Canada it is Canadian Environment Week. Canada's natural environment is enjoyed by Canadians and citizens of the world alike, and with so much variety, it's hard to take it all in - skiing in the mountains at Banff, canoeing the rivers of Manitoba, fishing the waters of the Atlantic and so much more.

So on this special day, we at Botanical PaperWorks want to encourage you to make a small change to your habits, something that specifically will help protect and nurture the environment.

On my part, I'm recommitting to composting and to using the compost in the soil in my yard. I planted a small vegetable garden this week and used up all of the gorgeous soil in the compost bin. I'm recommitting because I had stopped after the bin had filled up and there was no more room. And the reason there was no more room is that I had no use for the compost. So with a small veggie garden and a place to put the compost, I can get going again on composting AND have a lovely garden of vegetables later this summer.

What about you? What will you do to protect our natural environment?
