July Treats To Beat The Heat

July Treats To Beat The Heat

June has come to an end and we can flip our beautiful Eco Calendars to July, that means hot summer days, trips to the cabin, barbecues with friends, and of course…Canada and Independence Day celebrations!

I can’t think of a better way to start off the month then, a big patriotic party celebrating our country. Hope everyone has some great activities planned for this week and that you all have a blast with your friends and family.

We’re loving the great summer weather we’ve been having, and just like all of you, we wish we were on vacation. Some of you are, and we’re just a little jealous, but we hope you’re enjoying your holidays. To help beat the summer heat, here are our current summer obsessions:

  • DAVIDs TEA iced tea in the Luscious Watermelon flavour, from their “The Summer Collection”. It’s perfect because it’s easy to make, all natural, super refreshing, and most importantly delicious.
  • We got caught up in a discussion at work about how we are all in love with Maxi dresses, what’s not to love, they’re so comfortable. They’re nice for summer because they’re light weight and breathable, and allow you to look dressed up with very little effort. We love the dresses they have at Old Navy right now, they have a great selection of maxi’s in many different colors and styles that are made from jersey, which is arguably the most comfortable material ever invented.
  • After work last wednesday a couple of us took in a show from the Jazz Festival. The artist was Janelle Monae, what a great talent she is. She’s got a great style and even better voice, we also can’t get her latest single, Tightrope, out of our heads. Summer is great for checking out music and art festivals. Shows during the week are also a nice way to break up the work week.
  • Another refreshing treat we all agree we love are popsicles, however, most are jam packed with artificial colors and flavors. To avoid the crazy sugar rush…and crash, we were inspired to make our own. From the blog, baked brie, we came across a recipe from Alison Bickel, of this homemade life, for all natural, delicious strawberry popsicles. They’re a great guilt-free summer treat.

We hope you enjoy these treats as much as we are, and would love any great suggestions on how you beat the heat this summer. Share your ideas with us on our Facebook page.
