Here's What You'll Need:
- White carrot seed paper
- Free printable carrot template
- Bone fold
- Hole punch
- Green ribbon (optional)
Making the Plantable Easter Carrot Boxes:
Step 1) Print the PDF on carrot seed paper and cut out the design using the black line as your guide. Try to cut just inside the black to keep the paper nice and clean.
Step 2) Use a bone fold to score along the white dotted lines.
Step 3) Fold along all the scores and use a touch of glue to adhere the flap to the inside of the 4th panel.
Step 4) If you don’t have ribbon you can simply close the top of the carrot like you would a petal card. Or if you're attaching a ribbon, use a single hold puncher, add a hole to two of the top flaps and thread through the ribbon.
Whether you fill the carrot shapes with chocolates, jelly beans or even small toys, this project is a unique and incredibly creative way to give a special bundle of goodies to loved ones on Easter. If you want to make the basket extra special and eco-friendly, you can even fill them with colorful bulk seed bombs that blossom into wildflowers. Easy and fun, they're available in a wide range of pastel shades that are perfectly fitting for Easter.
Plant the paper to grow a garden of fresh & delicious carrots!
Once the treats have been removed from the shapes, the real fun begins! Since the seed paper is 100% biodegradable, you and your kids can plant them in a pot or garden to grow a REAL bundle of fresh and delicious carrots. To do this, simply cover the paper in good quality soil, keep moist and make sure they're in a sunny location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. After a few weeks of proper care, the paper will compost away while the carrots grow!
