A Step-by-Step Guide To Ordering Plantable Wedding Invitations

To help you get started with wedding invitation shopping and learn more about Botanical PaperWorks, our Customer Support Team has put together this step-by-step overview for ordering plantable wedding invitations.

Step 1: Define your wedding style and colors

Your wedding invitation sets the tone for your celebration and gives your guests a glimpse of what your wedding day is going to look like. Before you start shopping for your invitations, have an idea of the type of wedding you are having. Romantic vineyard, rustic chic, contemporary elegance—there are endless styles and themes to choose from. Just be sure to pick something that reflects your personalities, and take a look at as much wedding inspiration as you can to help you decide. And of course, start a Pinterest board if you haven’t already!

Step 2: Set your timeline so you know when to order

Traditionally, wedding invitations should be sent out 2 months before the event. However, if you are having a destination wedding, give guests more time and send your invitations at least 3 months before the wedding, and be sure to send save-the-dates 6 to 9 months before so they can make travel arrangements.

Once you’ve determined your invitation send date, set a due date about 1 to 2 months before your send date to place your order, so you’ll have plenty of time to address your envelopes and mail them. Botanical PaperWorks offers quick turnaround times so you should expect to receive your invitations within 1 to 2 weeks of placing your order.

NOTE: Plantable seed paper invitations can be stored up to two years in a cool dry place, so if you are ready to place an order early, you can do that as well.

Follow this step-by-step guide for ordering plantable wedding invitations.

Step 3: Pick a design or design your own

Once you have confirmed your vision and have an idea of colors, you can start browsing through designs. This is this the fun part! Every plantable wedding invitation has a selection of designer color themes and most have the option to choose custom colors. If you want something different, you can also choose to design your own wedding invitation or hire a designer to create something for you. Learn more about custom printed plantable wedding invitations if you choose to go that route.

Step 4: Decide on your wedding invitation wording and RSVP

When it comes to the wording on your invitation, it is important to be clear and concise. The bride and grooms’ names and the date should stand out, and you should try to keep the text minimal for a nice clean look. You’ll also have to decide if you want to collect replies with reply cards, by email, or with a wedding website.

At Botanical PaperWorks, the invitation templates are ready to be customized with your details so you can simply enter your custom text in the fields provided. There are matching reply cards available for every design.

NOTE: If you need additional lines of text added, or your wedding details don’t perfectly match the format of the invitation you’ve chosen, don’t fret! You can add these details to the Special Instructions box at the time of checkout. Feel free to contact us ahead of time if you have any concerns about your text not fitting in the design and we will work with you to ensure your invitations are just right.

Step 5: Add an enclosure card if needed

Some weddings have lots of extra details that may need to be communicated to guests, such as driving directions or accommodation details. Botanical PaperWorks wedding collections have complementary pieces that match the invitations that can easily be customized to have those extra details. Alternatively, you can also contact us about using the back of the invitation for extra details.

Step 6: Select your seed type and envelope color

Most of the plantable wedding invitations at Botanical PaperWorks come with your choice of wildflower or herb seeds and some have the option to add on a matching backer. Envelopes are also included, so don’t forget to choose an envelope color.

Step 7: Place your order

Once you are ready to submit your order, simply follow the checkout process to complete your order. Then be sure to watch your inbox for your digital proof that has been customized to order by our customer care team. We always put in the extra effort to make sure it looks picture perfect!

Step 8: Review your digital proof

Once you’ve received the digital proof, you can review and request any changes you may need. Be sure to proofread the digital proof carefully and have your fiancé and someone from your wedding party to review it as well. Botanical PaperWorks will also take care to catch any spelling mistakes before it goes to print. Once you’ve approved the order and our team has thoroughly reviewed it as well, we’ll print and ship your order. You should receive it within 1 to 2 weeks and will receive tracking information.

That’s it! Good luck with all your wedding plans and be sure to check out the matching seed paper stationery such as favor tags, menus, and thank you cards. You can also shop plantable wedding favors if you want to give your guests an extra gift that grows.
